Why we're built this way

Three rules we wrote down in 2019 and never changed

They cost us sign-ups. We've kept them anyway, because the alternative is being one more room full of people selling hope.

no

No signals. Not once.

We don't run a chat room, we don't post entries, and a tutor won't tell you whether to hold the position you're sitting on. You'll get the method and the reasoning. The decision stays yours, which is uncomfortable and also the whole point.

9m

Nine-minute lessons, then homework

Nobody learns sizing from a 90-minute webinar. Lessons run 7 to 14 minutes and end with something to do: a spreadsheet to fill, twelve charts to mark up, last month's journal to score. The homework is where it sticks.

@

A person answers your email

Send a question about a lesson and Isolde, Casimir or Marguerite writes back. Usually next morning, sometimes two working days when the market's been loud. No bot, no ticket queue, no upsell attached to the reply.

The catalogue

Six courses. Take one, take all six.

Every course stands on its own and every price is the full price. Add what you want to the ticket at the bottom of the screen, then send the enrolment form.

Buying four or more seats for a team? Say so in the enrolment notes and we'll quote it properly instead of guessing.

What's on at Regent Rd

Things we run that have nothing to buy attached

Anyone enrolled gets an email when a seat opens. Nothing here is sold separately, nothing is a package, and nobody gets pitched anything at the end of it.

6

Saturday workshop, Bootle

Three hours in the room at Regent Rd, six seats, bring a laptop. First half is sizing and mark-up drills on paper, second half everybody replays the same session and we put the stops side by side on the screen. The disagreement about where they belong is the useful part. Tea and biscuits, no lunch, sorry.

@

Open desk evening

An hour online where a tutor works a replayed session out loud and takes interruptions. No slides. People mostly ask why a level was drawn where it was drawn, which is exactly the question worth asking. Recorded, so if you miss it the file lands in your account a day or two later.

Q

Tutor question hour

Send questions in beforehand and Isolde, Casimir or Marguerite answers them in order, longest first. We keep off anything that sounds like a tip, so no questions about live positions. The transcript goes out afterwards with the charts attached.

Dates go out by email rather than sitting on this page, because the room only holds six and we would rather not disappoint anyone.

From ticket to first lesson

Four steps, and no card details on this website

Payment happens on an invoice, by transfer or card over the phone. It's slower than a checkout button. It also means we're not storing anybody's card.

01

Fill the ticket

Add courses from the catalogue. The ticket sits at the bottom of the page and keeps a running total in pounds, VAT included.

02

Send the enrolment form

Name, email, phone, and whether you're paying yourself or through an employer. Takes about a minute.

03

Invoice lands

Same working day, or the next morning if you send it after six. Bank details are on it. Employer invoices go out with a PO field if you need one.

04

Access opens

Once the payment clears you get a login, the workbook pack as a PDF, and a calendar invite for the next monthly Q&A.

Who records the lessons

Three tutors. All still trading their own money.

Small team on purpose. If a fourth person shows up on the site one day, it'll be because we hired one, not because we bought a stock photo.

Isolde Brackenridge, currency tutor at TradePath Academy

Isolde Brackenridge

Currency track

Eleven years on an FX desk in Canary Wharf before she got tired of the commute. Teaches the currency course and the session-timing lessons. Warns everybody off the 03:00 Tokyo session in her first lesson and gets ignored every time.

Casimir Ndukwe, equities tutor at TradePath Academy

Casimir Ndukwe

Stocks & screening

Spent six years writing equity research nobody read, then rebuilt the whole thing as a screening course for accounts under ten grand. His filing system is genuinely frightening. Answers most emails before nine in the morning.

Marguerite Lindqvist, risk tutor at TradePath Academy

Marguerite Lindqvist

Risk & trade review

Came from compliance, which is why the journalling course reads like an audit. She'll pull apart a spreadsheet in front of you and show where the sizing rule quietly stopped being followed around week three.

Longer bios, what each of them trades, and who wrote which lesson →

Included with every course

The practice desk, where nothing costs you anything

A replay tool loaded with archived sessions from 2015 onward. You step through a day bar by bar, place the trade you'd have placed, and find out afterwards. No broker connection, no real money, no way to blow up an account on a Tuesday.

  • Bar-by-bar replay on stocks and the six majors, ten years of archived sessions
  • Sizing calculator that shows the pound loss before you commit, not after
  • Mark-up layer for levels and ranges, saved per session so you can compare weeks
  • Journal template that exports to CSV, the same one Marguerite marks in the review course

Kept current

What we have been rewriting, and what we added

Lessons go stale. Settlement rules move, brokers redesign their statements, tax deadlines shift. Everything below is already in the courses you own, at no extra cost.

Re-recorded recently

Six lessons across four courses
  • The settlement lesson in Market Mechanics, rewritten around T+1 on US stocks and what it does to your cash balance on a Friday sell
  • Reading a broker statement, reshot against the current statement layouts from the three platforms our students use most
  • Margin and financing in Currency Pairs, checked line by line against the retail caps in force this year
  • Record keeping in The Journal Habit, updated for the current self assessment dates and what HMRC expects you to keep

New on the practice desk

Newest on the desk
  • Four Bank of England decision days, replayable minute by minute with the statement text alongside
  • The gilt sell-off week from autumn 2022, which is the clearest gap-risk lesson we have
  • A second journal export format, so the spreadsheet opens properly in Numbers as well as Excel
  • Keyboard shortcuts for stepping bars, because everybody complained about the buttons and they were right
An honest comparison

You can absolutely learn this for free

Plenty of people have. It usually takes longer and the tuition fee gets paid to the market instead of to us. Here's the difference as we see it.

Piecing it together yourself

Free, mostly
  • Four videos, four contradictory answers on where a stop belongs
  • Sizing skipped, because it's the dull bit and nobody makes thumbnails about it
  • Practice happens live, with real money, on the days it hurts most
  • No record of what you did, so week nine repeats week two

Working through a course

Paid once, kept for good
  • One method, taught in order, with the reasoning attached
  • Sizing comes second, before you're allowed near a chart pattern
  • Practice on replayed sessions until the routine is boring
  • A journal you actually fill in, marked by someone who used to audit them
Week one, nearly every time

Three mistakes we watch people make before they get anywhere near a chart

Not theory. These come out of the marked journals we read back, month after month, and they cost more than any bad entry ever did.

100

Buying in round lots

A hundred shares because a hundred is a nice number. The share price decides your risk instead of you, so one trade risks £40 and the next risks £310 and neither was a decision. Work out the pound loss at your stop first, then the size falls out of the arithmetic.

x2

Doubling after a loss

It never gets written down as a plan, it just happens on a Thursday afternoon. In the journals we read it shows up as one size for eleven trades and then a size three times bigger on the twelfth. That twelfth trade is where most first accounts go.

08:00

Trading the open on day one

The first twenty minutes are the fastest and the least forgiving part of the session, and they're where beginners start because that's when something is happening. Watch it for a fortnight on replay before you put money into it. Nothing is lost by being late.

Student notes

What people wrote back afterwards

Collected from post-course emails and printed with permission. Surnames trimmed at their request.

Bought the sizing course because it was the cheapest one and I wanted to see if the site was legit. Ended up doing three more.

I'd been at this about eighteen months and I was convinced my problem was entries. Marguerite made me export nine months of trades and score them, and it turned out my entries were fine. I was just doubling size after a loss, every single time, without noticing. That's not a strategy problem, that's a me problem, and I don't think I'd have found it on my own because I wasn't looking there. The course is dry. Genuinely, the videos are dry. But that spreadsheet week paid for everything else I've bought here.

No chat room. Thank god. I'd left two others because of the noise.

AHAlwyn H.

Invoice took a day and a half rather than the same day, which was the one thing that annoyed me. Everything after that was straight. The replay tool is worth the money by itself and I still open it most Sundays to walk through the week I missed.

SBStefan B.

Emailed Casimir a question at eleven at night about a screening filter I'd broken. Reply was waiting at 08:20 with a corrected version and a note telling me why my version would have missed half the list. That's the bit you're paying for, I think.

The questions we get most weeks

01Will you tell me what to buy?+

No, and we won't hint either. We're not authorised to give advice and we don't want to be. Tutors answer questions about the lessons, the tools and your own written-up trades after the fact. If you ask whether to hold something, you'll get a polite no and a link to the review course.

02I've never placed a trade. Which course first?+

Market Mechanics, then Position Sizing. That's the cheapest way in and about six and a half hours of work. Don't buy a charting course before those two, because you'll learn to spot a lovely pattern and then risk a quarter of your account on it.

03How long do I keep access?+

It doesn't expire. When a lesson goes stale, usually because a broker changed something or a rule shifted, we re-record it and you get the new version free. That's happened four times so far, twice in 2024 alone.

04Can I get my money back?+

Fourteen days from the day access opens, provided you've watched under a third of the lessons. Send the invoice number, we refund to the account that paid, usually inside five working days. No form to fill and nobody will ring you to talk you out of it.

05Do I need a broker account to start?+

Not for the first two courses. Everything runs on the practice desk. We suggest you stay off a live account until you've finished sizing and have four weeks of journal entries, and we say which brokers our students use without taking a penny from any of them.

06Is there a certificate at the end?+

You get a completion sheet with the course name, hours and date. It isn't a regulated qualification and it won't get you a job on a desk. A few employers have paid for staff to sit our courses and asked for the sheet for their records, which is what it's for.

Risk warning and what this site is not

TradePath Academy sells educational material. Nothing on this website, in the lessons, in the workbooks or in any email from a tutor is financial advice, a personal recommendation, or a suggestion that you should buy, sell or hold any instrument. We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and we do not manage money for anyone.

Trading shares and currency pairs carries real risk. Prices move against you, gaps happen overnight and over weekends, and leverage makes losses larger and faster than most beginners expect. You can lose money, and with leveraged products you can lose more than you originally put in. Past price behaviour, including anything shown in a replayed session, tells you nothing reliable about what happens next.

Every decision you make in a live account is yours alone, and every loss lands on you. Do not trade with money you need for rent, bills, debt payments or anything else that matters. If you want advice on your own circumstances, speak to a regulated financial adviser. If trading is affecting your sleep, your finances or your relationships, stop and talk to someone; in the UK, free debt and gambling-harm support is available from National Debtline and GamCare.
